Today was awesome! Thanks to my friend Monique aka L.O.L aka www.curvesandchaos.com, I was able to attend the Covergirl Queen Collection/BET Awards Show Red Carpet Makeup event. I had a wonderful time, met other bloggers and received a makeup lesson (along with a few tricks). The event was hosted by the beautiful Tika Sumpter who is as sweet as she is beautiful....so refreshing to meet a completely down to earth Hwood actress. The look we viewed being done is the the look Tika wore on the Red carpet. I will be honest: I am a total MAC girl; however this Queen collection is making me rethink my "MAC only" policy. As a wonderfully, delicious chocolate girl (BROWN GIRLS STAND UP!) makeup can be torture. It either doesn't blend, has a red undertone (side eye; my brown ladies know what certain brand I'm referring to) or is chalky. The makeup artist, Ashunta Sheriff, showed how she used bronzer and foundation to contour Tika's face and it blended so smooth and creamy; it was very pretty. Ok, on to the pics:

Ok, so how cute is Ashunta??? She was super sweet and patient with all of the questions being asked of her.

So in an earlier post, I mentioned how I have more than a few articles of clothing that still have tags on them; this Jibri dress just so happened to be one of them. I ordered this dress sometime last year; I fell in love when I saw it on Jibri's Etsy site and literally squealed when I opened the package. The quality is amazing and so is the workmanship.  It's a total "Ivory" dress; it has all the details I absolutely love: exaggerated sweetheart neckline, pockets and an awesome print. Seriously, what else could I ask for???

Can I kick it??

.25 cents to whoever can finish the above lyric....

I have about 12-16 articles of clothing that still have tags on them in my closets. Some (like this dress) have been in 1 of these closets for a year or longer. I'm determined to wear each piece by the end of the summer. I found this dress at Ross for like $11. Keena (hey girl!!) has this dress in black and it looks fantastic on her.

P.S I know I'm not the only one reading this blog who has the problem of "so many clothes, so little time", so don't go shaking your heads at me! There is no judgement in fashion!!! (yeah right)

....

It has been a minute since my last post due to the usual: work/life stress and feeling totally uninspired when it comes to outfits lately. I've been a bad blogger and I promise to try and do better. I've done some shoe shopping and thrifting to lift my spirits; here are my results:

I was browsing the bay searching for yellow shoes (which I never found BTW) and I spotted these. OMG, I fell IN LOVE!!! 6 inch heel, bright as hell and a lime green sole??? Had to have them. These are the highest shoes I own and it will take some practice walking in them. Good thing I'm a professional ;-)

Left to Right: Chinese Laundry, Zara, Charles David.
The tan platforms are super comfy and the perfect height. I haven't decided if the red Zara shoes will be for work or play; they are a perfect height for work, but a little on the short side for play. I love the details on these C.D's; they were a TJ Maxx find.

Another Ebay find. It stated that it was dress length; however my hips told me otherwise. It's super lightweight/airy and although it should be used as a swim cover-up, it will be worn as a blouse :-)

Considering the fact that it's June, I won't be wearing this sweaterdress anytime soon. This dress is thrifted and fits like a glove. The puff sleeves are the perfect amount of puff and the blue color is amazing.

I have yet to wear any of these items, but trust: you will see them in action very soon!
