In there like swimwear

This coral caftan is actually a bathing suit cover-up; however I think it deserves more attention than just being pool side. My lovely friend Lauren pointed out this lovely number to me and I'm so glad she did. I LOVE it! In order to try and get a grip on my shopping habit, I've only been purchasing items that I absolutely love and cannot stop thinking about. This caftan/cover up is a perfect example of this.

(please excuse the damp marks under my arm; we were dancing pretty much all night. kiss n grind knows how to throw a party!)

It's printed all over the place...

This evening, I met up with the always fun Monique (CC) at the 10th anniversary of Torrid. (Sidenote: I'm still getting used to this whole blogging "thing"; I never take pics of who I'm with, where I am, etc etc. I will get better; I promise). I did not purchase anything; I rarely buy from Torrid these days. The 1 item I was looking for was not there. I will be very honest: when looking at disposable fashion, F21 is the way to go. If I'm only going to wear something 2-3 times, I would much rather pay $20 for it rather than $58. While I do believe Torrid has a few pieces that may be worth the $$$, (mainly blazers and jeans) I have not fallen in love with their pieces in a very long time. I remember when that Torrid opened: I went to the grand opening and was soooo excited about my options. The brands they used to carry, the style of clothing, the uniqueness...it was great. Hopefully one day, they can return to this. Anyway, on to my outfit: fabric-gifted, bodysuit-asos, jeans-f21, wedges-aldo, earrings/rings-etsy, bag-big buddha.

Seriously???

The weather in L.A sucks major monkey balls right now; hence the reason I'm wearing boots in MAY. I pay a high price to live here and I want my sun!!! Anyway, today's outfit (well half) is brought to you from the wonderful people of Forever 21. I know certain people turn their noses up at F21; however I am a true fashionista and shop EVERYWHERE. These days, the quality at Macy's/Nordstroms doesn't differ much from Target/F21/Walmart.

Saturday night quickie

I went out last night to catch the Beatjunkies and DJ Premier at the Echoplex (90's hip hop for the win!). I've had this sequin top for ages; I found it at a Salvation Army for like $3. Jeans are from F21, clutch is thrifted and the shoes are Kathryn Amberleigh.

The "Go To"...

I'm sure y'all have a "go to" outfit; the outfit you wear whenever you're feeling lazy and don't REALLY feel like getting dressed, but you still want to be cute. No? Yes? Well, here's mine. It works for spring/summer/winter with a quick change of shoes. I absolutely love this scarf and couldn't believe I scored it for $5. This is outfit will be in heavy rotation this spring/summer, but worn with shorts. I usually accessorize a bit more, but again, i was feeling lazy :-)

Belts and Bangles and Rings oh my!

Today I met up with the always entertaining Monique, aka L.o.L for breakfast and a tiny bit of shopping. I've been trying to wear more separates, as my closet is about 95% dresses/skirts. Lately, I've been feeling a bit sloppy in jeans, so in an attempt to overcome this, here we have today's ootd:

cloudy lens...

that's better :-)

shirt: h&m, belt: ashley stewart, jeans: macy's, wedges: dollhouse (i got them from ross and they are ridiculously comfortable; the best $9.99 I've ever spent) rings/purse/bracelets/earrings: various flea markets/thrift stores/festivals.

shout out to the Lady of Leisure for being my wonderful photog!
