Orange

Hey Loves! My closet runs DEEP and I have items that I purchased and never wore, much like this number. I grabbed this from Asos about 3, maybe 4? years ago and never got around to wearing it. I love the juicy burst of color and the fit. It's long sold out, but I'll offer some similar items below. Moral of the story? Shop your closet!

Red

*taps mic* Is this thing still on? Y'all still out there? Oh hey!!! Long time, no see! Yes, I'm aware it's January and I haven't blogged since May, and to be super honest, I don't have any excuses other than I just haven't felt up to it. I've always been honest with y'all, so no reason to start lying. Blogging hasn't been on my list of priorities and I'm not sure it will be in the future, but let's just see where this goes. I started blogging because I didn't see women who looked like me in the media. Fat, black women who loved to pair their Jimmy Choo's with a $3 sweater dress (except for Tumblr...you can find ANYTHING on Tumblr) and the only opinion that mattered was hers. With the help of Instagram and various other platforms, you now see her. She's not me, but she's out there. Sometimes I wonder if my tiny space is even necessary anymore, as more and more blogs are largely brand driven and all about the links. I'm rambling now and I appreciate y'all for listening. I can't guarantee I'll be posting on a regular, but I can promise you this: If I decide to stop, you will be the 1st to know. Ok, on to why you're really here....

As you know, I live in LA and we really don't get a true winter, but I love me some chunky and bright knits. I know winter is the season for black/navy/gray, but I need color and lots of it.

Me encanta Cuba

Happy May everyone! Can you believe this year is almost half over? 2017 has been interesting (to say the least) but traveling to new places lessens the blow a bit. Cuba has been on my list for a while and I jumped on the opportunity. I suggest if you plan to visit, make it soon. With the political craziness going on, who knows how long the doors will be open?

2.14 Inspiration

Hey Everyone! I'm back with another Valentine's Day outfit inspiration. I was in Target, minding my own business and started pursuing the clearance racks, and out jumps this dress. I love the off the shoulder silhouette, the almost mini length and the chiffon (like) fabric. It's perfect for a romantic night spent with your favorite. Did I also mention that it was $8??? Yep, you read correctly. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a link for the dress online, but check your local Target. You never know what you'll stumble across.

I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day and if you don't celebrate, I hope you have a fantastic Tuesday!

Vegas Nights

Hey Everyone! Over the weekend, I took a quick trip to Vegas and I was determined not to overpack. I am notorious for packing way too many items and not wearing half of them. I only wanted to pack a carry-on and in doing so, had to make severe cuts to my normal ways of packing. I knew the majority of my trip would be spent experiencing the nightlife, so here's what I included:

  • 1 pair of Over the Knee boots
  • 2 rompers
  • 1 fur coat
  • 2 pairs of tights
  • 2 clutch purses
  • Multiple rings and 2 pairs of earrings
That's it! The old Ivory would normally pack 3-4 various options, but when you pack pieces you love,  you don't really need options.

Coat: Eloquii
Sequin romper: Chic and Curvy
Black romper (that you can barely see): Boohoo, via Ebay

How did I do?? Considering my old ways, I believe I excelled.

Vision of Love

Happy New Year! (I haven't seen y'all since 2016, so it still applies) I hope your January is going well, with the exception of some event on the 20th. We won't ugly up this post with that nonsense, so let's move on. I spotted this dress inside a random booth at the Slauson Swapmeet. If you live in LA or surrounding areas and haven't been to Slauson Swapmeet aka Slauson Supermall, you are totally missing out! I always find random goodies and for very reasonable (or cheap, whatever) prices. If you've been around for a while, you know this print and the bright colors are directly up my alley. I'm in love, which totally works for Valentine's Day. How fitting is wearing a dress you love on a day specified for love?

12.21.16

Merry (almost) Christmas! Are we ready? I am not, but that shouldn't come as a surprise. I'm a total last minute shopper, so I still have a few days to get things in order. Speaking of shopping, I found this "dress" on major clearance at Target. I purchased in a 4x, so I would be able to wear it as a dress. I fondly call this look my version of Uggs and shorts; if you live in or have visited Los Angeles, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Simply Be sent me this parka, which I am absolutely in love with. It's a nice heavy weight and the fur is a cute touch in contrast to the camouflage. If the boots look familiar, they should. I have them in 3 different colors. They are the Michael Antonio Hesper boots and are the perfect over the knee boots for my 19 inch calves.

I hope y'all have an amazing Christmas and I will see you next year! Stay tuned for my New Years Eve outfit ;-)

Alternate Holiday

Happy December! It's holiday time and I wanted to show y'all an alternative to the normal sequins, gowns, and party dresses. I love a good sequin, but sometimes you just want something different, you know? I paired this bralet with these high waisted pants and an amazing vintage blazer from this vintage store I found via Instagram. The owner was kind enough to send me this blazer and I fell in love. It's got enough sparkle to satisfy the need for a bit of glam and is versatile enough for a pair of jeans and a tight tee.

It's super easy to get caught up in what you're "supposed" to wear, but consider thinking outside your fashion box. You may just love the results ;-)
Until next time!

Printed Doubt

Hey Hey! So have you ever purchase something and while you love it in person, on camera it just doesn't translate the same? Well, here we are with that scenario. I personally love this dress in person, but in pictures? Not so much...
That being said, it's honestly a great dress (in person) and was purchased from Proud Mary Fashion. If our temps ever drop below 75, I'll pair with a leather jacket and tights. Bonus: the empire waist allows for plenty of overeating during the upcoming holidays.

Has this happened to you? Love it in person, but in selfies/pics the love isn't the same? Let me know! As always, thank you for reading!
